Alvarado Historic District
The boundaries of the Alvarado Historic District are: South of Oak to just north of Palm, 3rd Street to just east of Central.
The Alvarado neighborhood is home to the internationally known Heard Museum as well as some lovely homes. The neighborhood’s 30 homes typically feature period revival architectural styles including Spanish and American Colonial, Elizabethan/Tudor and Georgian. This historically wealthy and tree-lined neighborhood was originally referred to as Los Olivos. Olive trees as well as palms are focal points on the narrow streets.
