The boundaries of the Del Norte Place Historic District are: Virginia to the north, Encanto to the south, 15th Avenue to 17th Avenue.
Developed by Dr. James Collier Norton, the Del Norte Place neighborhood was opened to the public in 1927. Conceived as an English Cottage style neighborhood, further development of surrounding areas enclosed Del Norte Place on three sides by a park greenbelt. Later construction featured Ranch and Period Revival homes to be showcased in Dr. Norton’s “beautiful subdivision.” Del Norte is one of the “hidden gems” of central Phoenix. Most buyers don’t know it’s even there and boy are they missing out!
