Phoenix Homesteads Historic District
The boundaries of the Phoenix Homesteads Historic District are: Osborn to the north to just north of Thomas, 28th Street to 26th Street.
The Phoenix Homesteads neighborhood is the only neighborhood of its kind left in Phoenix. During the Depression, the Farm Security Administration built subsistence farming homes in several locations around the valley. The homes are on large lots suitable for farming, and the homes, built by WPA workers, are almost all adobe. This neighborhood is truly part of Phoenix’s history.
